Postodoctoral fellowship or Ph.D. position in computational biology

Details

Dr. Asaf Levy from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem is looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow or a PhD student in computational biology for an exciting project (three years of funding). A generous scholarship will be provided for the right person.

The research project focuses on the identification of host-associated microbial genes in 20,000 microbial genomes. The project will combine microbial genomics and molecular evolution.

Through the study we will improve the understanding of host-microbe interactions and shed light on the genes that help different microbes adapt to specific hosts and their tissues.

The study will be followed by experimental validation (not necessarily done by the hired person).

The project will require good knowledge of programming.

Candidates with proven evidence in computational biology (published manuscript) will have an advantage.

Please send CV to Asaf Levy alevy@mail.huji.ac.il

The lab is multidisciplinary and combines computational and experimental microbiology.

The lab is located at Rehovot, a small city within a short train ride from Tel Aviv.

Academic courses in English are provided in our faculty or the nearby Weizmann Institute of Science.
